The works I selected for my portfolio I chose because they best represented my theme, which is my memories.  Thses memories are not just any random images that I picked, but are a select few that stand out in my life that have left an impact on my subconscious. For instance, "Discovery" is a depiction of the memory when I found out a major truth in my life, one that still impacts my every action.  "The Melody Line" represents the Haven I found in music, especially in the music I create.  Like wise, "The Colors of Passion" represent the passion and love I have found in the colors of the artist word.  When I created "Its at the tips of your fingers" I was thinking of a time when I was trapped in utter darkness (not to be cliche or anything), and what I needed was right in front of me, but just out of reach, and it took me a long time to finally grasp it.  "Waited" represents a time when I waited for someone, but they never came.  I had grown from a child to an adult by the time they bothered to come, but by then it was too late.  I had waited.  "The typical feminist" represents a time in my life that I took all too seriously, but look back at with pride.  "The Movements of Fall" is a memory from one of my best afternoons that I have ever experienced, and will never forget.  Yet the best memory that I have re-created so far is my most recent, and most impacting yet: "The Real Innocence" represents the time I spent in Cameroon, Africa with the Aids Orphans Rescue Units and the precious orphans I spend it with this past summer.  The impact they have had on my life is far greater and stronger then any of my previously mentioned memories.

I hope that when people see my work they will experience the memories that I have tried to capture on the paper.  Or better yet, that when they look on that they will be reminded of their own impacting memories.

Art is more then a means to commuicate to the world something important to me: it is a release.   Art helps me to release my stress and thoughts.  It gives me a defined goal to work towards with dedication when all other goals are unsure and hazy, yet it's not just the goal I work for but the entire journey through art which is so enjoyable.  Art is a necessity in my life.
